Eight Hour Studio

Fancy having the best nights kip you've had for some time? Or giving the gift of a super comfortable sleep for Christmas? Read on...

Eight Hour Studio designs and produces handmade, hand printed African inspired, organic cotton pyjama sets and nightshirts that actually, can be worn as separates outside of the bedroom. Cool, I know. The inspiration for the designs comes from Founder Sonia's childhood as she did some of her growing up in Zambia, Africa and tells me she was always so drawn to colour and patterns.

Sonia Padam is the brains behind Eight Hour Studio and she's such a bundle of inspiration. She's a success story really. She left a job that gave her financial security, but also a job she simply didn't enjoy. Sonia decided to pursue something creative, something that made her happy, and I think that's one of the bravest things anyone can do.

Here I am flouncing around in the warehouse apartment I stayed at during my time in Copenhagen, wearing my favourite piece from Eight Hour Studio, an oversized nightshirt, with pockets- shock.

You can shop the collection online here or if you're London based, pop into Aida Shoreditch to get your hands on some.

Head over to the Eight Hour Studio Instagram page @eighthourstudio, it's pretty beautiful.

Thank you so much for reading. I really hope you enjoyed this piece.

City Nights with Aida Shoreditch

To say what makes me tick is collaborative working on Editorial pieces would be an understatement. I am never happier to produce content for my little ol' blog than when it's with wonderful people with all the same vibes as me. I am starting to take my blog in another direction because, as I'm sure you're all aware, there's an awful lot of similar content knocking about and I don't want you guys to get bored with me and Ropes of Holland! So watch this space because change is coming....and I hope you're going to love it.

This is another shoot for Aida Shoreditch, and incase you haven't noticed...I adore those guys! Shot again by the talented Ben Peter Catchpole at night in Shoreditch. This statement jumper is from the AW drop...coming soon and I have it earmarked as a staple piece for the season ahead. Myself and Rowan AKA Wonder Woman Stylist, threw this boy meets girl look together with Nike Air Force 1's and some silky basketball shorts. Keeping it simple, no girly fuss allowed!

Thank you again so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed this piece. Have an incredible weekend.

Talking Tomboy

Praise all that is good it's Friday! What a week. Well to be fair, I started it in Greece so that was pretty wonderful, but it ended with tonsillitis which was not.

Here I am again with my Editorial shoot for Aida Shoreditch (AHEM, sale now on) taken by Ben Catchpole, this time being a tad more Tomboy than usual, I loved this look so much! A thick sweat tank, jacket, basketball shorts and trainers. The dream. Oh and my usual messy hair status...

We shot this outfit as it turned into night, the lighting was so cool to experiment with. I was always under the illusion that photography should be done in the daylight. How very wrong and ignorant of me! I hope you are enjoying this little series of Editorial work, there's a few more to come AND I've just found out my special mate from NYC is here next week to shoot together again! So exciting!

Have an incredible weekend.
Thank you so, so much for reading. Your comments mean a lot ya know!

Editorial with Aida Shoreditch

All photography by Ben Peter Catchpole

Oh hello Sunday! I hope you lot are having a gorgeous day. So far, I've been for an incredible brunch with my lovely flatmate and cleaned my flat within an inch of its life, and now I feel pretty cleansed. A tidy home means a tidy mind and all that.

I really wanted to share the second part of the Editorial shoot I did with Aida Shoreditch with you. I absolutely love reading and scrolling through these types of posts myself so I'm really excited and inspired to be making them with some wonderful people and get it out here. As you can tell from the first few photos, we really did have such fun creating this!
You will be pleased to know there's one more left to share! I would really love to know what you think.

You can shop my look in store or online at Aida Shoreditch

Have a gorgeous Sunday and thank you so much for all of your support.

Aida Shoreditch Editorial Shoot 1

I’ve been at it again. Collaborating my socks off with wonderfully talented people. This time, a Northern freelance stylist who works at Aida Shoreditch and Southern Photographer who is, well, pretty awesome.

Aida Shoreditch is an incredible hub of inspiration and collaboration. They bring the industries creatives together to create amazing projects.

The amazing stylist, Rowan, got in touch with a beautiful Editorial idea to shoot for the store, and I practically leapt out of my chair. I adore Aida and Rowan, who I have been in touch with as an online pal for a good while now, I love those types of friendships, the ones that blossom over Social Media. Turns out we’re pretty flipping similar. Rowan organised everything, and picked out so many pieces I almost fainted in front of the rail,  I had to make her choose the pieces 1. Because I trusted her and 2. Because I was spoiled for choice!

The photogpaher, Ben of Ben Peter Catchpole had his work cut out when we were playing dress up and choosing the pieces like excited little girls, he retired to the seating area for a coffee. Good plan. The vibe of the shoot was just incredible, all of us knew what we’d like to achieve, we were so in sync and relaxed that we just sauntered through East London catching the light as the sun set, capturing natural moments. It was one of the most exciting things I have ever collaborated on and I am so proud of what we produced. I hope you love it too!

PER-LEASE head in store or online to Aida, it’s such an incredible store and they have a little cafĂ© at the front so you can chill out after you shop! Shop Aida Shoreditch

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you loved the shots!
