Brand focus: Charli Cohen

The start of the year brings many a resolution. The most popular being: get fit. I've followed Charli Cohen on Twitter for some time now and the girl is incredible. Impeccable taste in clothes and has now released her very own high end luxe sports wear range 'The Vis Collection'.

Featured in February's Vogue and acclaimed to be a genius collection, I had to have a chat with Charli about the collection.

L:  I know you've loved fashion for a long time and studied it at Kingston University London, did you always know you wanted to design sportswear?
C: I'd always planned to be a womenswear designer but my pursuits in the fitness industry were very much seperate. It wasn't until the first year of my BA, when I helped one of the final year students on a sport-luxe collection, that I realised sportswear design was the perfect consolidation of my two passions!

L: Your latest collection 'The Vis Collection' is both beautiful and eclectic. What was your inspiration for this?
C: The VIS Collection explores the movement patterns and anatomy of strength training - the garments are inspired by the inner toughness of the woman that wears them.
L: I read a feature about your collection in none other than Vogue....I bet that was so exciting! How did that happen?
C: It felt incredible to featured in the February issue! Vogue's wellbeing editor Calgary Avansino is a real front-woman for the wellness movement in the UK and she's always on the look out for what's new and upcoming. I was fortunate enough to connect with her and she's been a great support.
L: Do you think dressing well for workouts inspires women to work harder and maintain motivation? because you've certainly pushed me to get back into training!
C: In my experience, absolutely! First of all, buying a new piece of kit is definitely motivation to try it out (and thus to train). What we wear also gets us ‘into character’ – a suit can help us feel professional, heels can help us feel sexy, a cosy can hoodie help us relax – great workout-wear can help encourage a great workout.  Feeling good about ourselves is powerful and that power can definitely be translated physically into training harder and more effectively.

House of Sunny

I've been really looking forward to sharing this brand with you all, and it's the most passionate I've felt about a brand in a while. House of Sunny, designers of my favourite kind. Beautifully finished, clean cut and oversized pieces are what you can expect from this coveted brand, whom have already dressed Miley Cyrus & Made in Chelsea stars Louise Thompson & Rosie Fortescue, in addition to being featured in Italian Vogue, Drapers & Dazed Magazine amongst other leading fashion publications.

I wanted to find out more about my dream brand, so I asked Sunny herself a few questions:

L: Talk me through what lead you to start House of Sunny
S: A mixture of things, looking through magazines, Vogue when I was young, business and motivational speakers and influences of music and the way people wear style everyday around East London was all very inspiring.

L: Describe House of Sunny in 3 words
S: Clean High-octane.

L: Name the biggest inspiration behind your brand
S: The Olsen twins and oversized menswear on women.

L: Who would you like to see wearing your brand?
S: Ha! The Olsen twins.

L: Where do you see House of Sunny in 3 years time?
S: Department stores, in a range of wardrobes, and doing a  bigger more exciting luxe line along with a range of products and a perfume.

I have been lucky enough to be sent what can only be described as my favourite jumper, The Volume Mono. It's everything I love about oversized pieces, it's oversized and it fits perfectly, not to mention the beautiful luxe material.

Get your Volume Mono jumper here
Worn with Zara skinny leather pants and ASOS chunky heels.

The skort vibe

The first place I laid my skort hungry blue eyes on 'skorts' was on all the amazing Australian bloggers, for example, Lisa Hamilton of See Want Shop, that girl is effortless!
You can't go wrong with skorts because they are just so.damn.easy to wear. Weather you're vibing it up with an oversized sweat top or pairing it with a boxy tee, they look incredible.

I got my ecru ones from Zara, yes, I love Zara, this fact is known widely.

So here I am, along with a few summery notes, ecstatic from the completion of my Degree and for my new lovely skorts.

Neon inspiration

Neon is everywhere and it doesn't seem to be disappearing! Now I'm partial to a hint of neon, so when this neon coral jersey blazer arrived from Glamorous, I couldn't wait to style it up with some cool tones.
It's pretty heavy weight and feels great on, so when you're buying this item, you're getting something that will see you through a couple of seasons. I find it's a really nice 'throw-on' layer during the day, but it could work well to finish off your LBD on a night out.
You can get it HERE on the Glamorous website! It's £48 and they offer free next day delivery, so it can be with you in time for the weekend.

I styled the blazer with some high waisted washed, mid-blue denim shorts and a loose ecru cropped cami. With neon, the piece is a statement in itself, so the key is to team it with complimentary, cool tones.
Sunglasses: Oakley Frogskins
Bracelet: Hermes

Are you still in love with neon?

Brand Profile: Sandro Paris

Welcome to my first of the monthly Brand Profiles. I will uncover the brand history, latest pieces from the collection and any exciting up and coming news! I'm going to pick some of my most coveted brands, starting with this Parisian beauty: Sandro.

Sandro Paris is one of those brands that I feel were made for girls like me. Clean cut, no fuss yet still show stopping, distinctly French, impeccable tailoring and quality that's second to none. Sandro has a huge global following and has 202 boutiques all over the world.

Featured in an array of page turning magazines such as Elle, Grazia, InStyle, Vogue & Marie Claire (to name but a few) this brand is taking the fashion world by storm, as well as my bank balance.....

Sandro is designed by mother & son team, Evelyne & Ilan Chetrite, pictured below. Both, from being young were inspired by fashion and culture which is encapsulated by each of the Femme & Homme collections.

Here are a few of my favourite looks from the SS/13 Look book. (You're welcome).

This just reinforces, I need boyfriend jeans.

I just got this sleeveless blazer, pretty much identical, but in black from Zara. Sometimes you can't wonder around head to toe in your most coveted brand- It just ins't cost effective!
These 'Anaconda' pumps come trainers are my absolute March must-have. I have searched far and wide for some (cheaper) and as cool as these....I came back with nothing. They actually can't be beaten. Looks like Mr. Bank Manager will be writing me another stern letter!

What are you loving about this brand? Do you like their sister brand: Maje?
